Obituary

Devon Joseph Abeyta

Devon Joseph Abeyta, 22, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, died unexpectedly on June 27, 2026. He was born on October 6, 2003, in Santa Fe to Regina Sena and Joe Abeyta.

Known for his nurturing hugs, Devon was proud of his faith and used it as navigation for his life.

He was a fan of sports — and often made time to watch his Raiders and Celtics play on TV. He even found time to get outdoors and do some bow hunting. His love of sports began at a young age when he began to play football at the age of five. As he got older, he took his talents to the field when he played for the St. Micheal’s High School Horsemen.Devon was strong and he excelled in football and basketball — making the local paper’s sports page a few times. One of his proudest moments was during a key play when he tackled the Taos quarterback.

Devon lived life to the fullest. He attended Santo Niño Regional Catholic School and St. Michael’s High School before graduating from Santa Fe High School. He also earned an associate's degree in Business.

Devon had a heart of gold and brought strength and perseverance to each day. Though he was only 22, his many accomplishments and love are part of his legacy.

Devon is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Virginia and Percy Sena.

Pallbearers will be Elias Abeyta, Jacob Martinez, Abby Baca, Adrianna Garcia, Faith Gomez, Shaylene Rivera.
