Edmund Joseph Baca

September 17, 1958 — November 12, 2025

Edmund Joseph Baca, 67, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 17, 1958, to Thomas J. Baca and Lena G. Baca, and was the second oldest of seven children.

Edmund attended Santa Fe High School, graduating with the Class of 1976, and later continued his studies at New Mexico State University. His early career began at Casa Loma Apartments, where he worked for several years. Over the years, he was also employed at Baillio’s, Smith’s, Residence Inn, and Plaza Hardwood. In 2010, he retired due to declining health issues.

Edmund was a devoted father who cherished every moment spent with his sons. He loved taking them fishing in Pecos as children and watching basketball—always fully invested in the game, especially with his children by his side. Edmund was a proud Denver Broncos fan and would never miss a game. Edmund also had a lifelong passion for cars. Among his greatest joys were his vehicles: his orange Trans Am, candy apple red Camaro, white Trans Am, and the many other Trans Ams and Camaros he owned throughout his life. Edmund also enjoyed his calls and visits with his dear friend Essie Byrd. She always knew how to put a smile on his face.

He found happiness in life’s simple routines, like bringing in the mail for his mother and taking out the trash. As the years passed, his heart only grew softer. He treasured meals, calls, and visits with his sons and their families. In the last months of his life, Edmund found comfort in the daily visits and devoted care of his family. Much of his strength came from the unwavering love and support from his son Joshua, who pushed him to never give up and ensure he fought daily through his weakness and illness. Joshua always made sure to end his visits with a kiss and tell him how much he was loved, so he never felt alone.

Edmund’s heart carried deep grief after the passing of his beloved son Timmy in 2017 and his Mother, Lena in 2023. He spoke often of how much he missed them and now he is reunited with them, free from all his earthly suffering and is now watching over those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lena Baca; his son, Timothy “Timmy” Baca; and his brother, Dennis Baca.

He is survived by his beloved sons, who he loved so dearly, Thomas Baca (Jamie Viarrial), and Joshua Baca and his wife and special daughter in law, Megan Baca.

He is also survived by many grandchildren: Jerome Baca (Arianna), Destiny Baca, Carlos Baca, Breyonna Baca, Aaron Baca, Ayson Baca, Ethan Baca, Krisalynn Martinez, Aaliyah Martinez and special Granddaughter and Grandson, who will miss their weekly visits so much, Aviana and Nico Baca. Great-Granddaughters Aaliyah and Gianni Baca.

He is also survived by his brother Johnny Baca; his sisters Emily Baca, Eleanor Baca, Geraldine Baca, and his close sister Camille and her husband and special brother-in-law, Dwayne “Beer Run” Martinez; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Casa Real, Anvoi Hospice, and Christus St. Vincent for the compassionate care provided during his final months. A special thank you to his sister Camille for always being available and helping Edmund with his day to day needs. Also thank you to his roommate, Rand Lee from Casa Real, for always looking after him and being so compassionate towards his situation.

Edmund’s strength, humor, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
