In Loving Memory of Edward Lee Prada

Edward Lee Prada, affectionately known as “Ed,” was born on February 1, 1960, and passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, stories, and a whole lot of love that will forever remain with the people who knew and loved him.

Ed was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His sons, grandchildren, and family meant the world to him, and he cherished the time he spent with them.

Ed was a hands-on kind of guy—literally. He loved building with his hands, helping his sons with their projects, and teaching them how to do things along the way. Whether he was showing them how to fix something, build something, or simply figuring it out together, those moments meant so much.

Ed was also an excellent cook. He loved making his green chile enchiladas, homemade beans, and chile. If you were lucky enough to eat his cooking, you knew you were in for a good meal—and probably seconds.

Ed loved to party and have a good time. He knew how to enjoy himself and never needed much of an excuse to have a good time with family and friends. He also made it a point to call everyone he knew on their birthday. If your phone rang on your birthday, there was a good chance it was Ed making sure you knew he hadn’t forgotten you.

He was quick to lend a helping hand and was always willing to help someone who needed it. That was just Ed—if he could help, he would.

Ed enjoyed the simple things in life, too: cruising around in his blue car, taking his daily strolls, and channel surfing the TV. He could spend plenty of time flipping through channels, especially if he wasn’t watching MASH*.

And for those who knew Ed well, they’ll especially miss hearing him say “incredible.” It was just one of those little things that made him who he was—and now, hearing that word will always bring a smile and a little piece of Ed back to mind.

Ed had his own way of doing things, his own personality, and his own sense of humor. He will be remembered not only for the love he gave, but for the laughter, the stories, the good times, and all the little things that made him uniquely Ed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Prada; mother, Conry Prada; brothers, Rudolph Prada and Floyd Prada; and niece, Samara Prada.

He is survived by his two sons, Santiago (Klarissa) Prada and Raymond (Dora) Prada; sisters, Mary “Nena” Gonzales, Louana Prada (Joe Montoya), Corrine Sapien, Lillian Prada, Emily Langell (Paul), and Rosalie Baros (Ernie); brothers, David Prada (Judy), Mel Prada (Therese), and Raymond Prada (Jennifer); and his grandchildren, Leilani, Juliana, David, Diego, Reyna, and Damian Prada.

He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A rosary will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the San Ysidro Parish Center, followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow Mass at Cementerio de la Agua Fria.

A reception will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds, located at 3229 Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
