It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Edwin George Rivera, a beloved father, brother, son, and friend, who left us on September 11, 2024, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Born on July 17, 1963, in Frankfurt, Germany, Edwin brought light and joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Edwin was the cherished son of George Rivera and Emma Rivera, As well as, his wonderful stepmother Irma Rivera. He spent his early years in Frankfurt before the family relocated to the United States, where Edwin would go on to build a life full of love, laughter, and creativity. He pursued his education at Parks College in Albuquerque, NM, a choice that set the foundation for his future endeavors in both his professional and personal life.
In 1981, Edwin met the love of his life, Paula. The two kindred spirits were married in 1985 in the beautiful city of Santa Fe, a place that would forever hold a special place in their hearts. Together, they raised two wonderful children, China Jade Garcia and Lyon Rivera, who were undoubtedly the pride and joy of Edwin’s life.
Edwin had a fulfilling career that began at Shidoni Art Foundry, where he worked for over a decade. His dedication and passion for the arts would eventually lead him to join Art Foundry, where he continued to flourish and leave a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community. His unique sense of style and boundless creativity were evident in the incredible art he created from found objects, a testament to his ability to see beauty where others might not.
Known for his infectious sense of humor, Edwin was a jokester who could always make people laugh. He was sweet, kind, and ever-caring, a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love for nature and animals was as boundless as his artistic talent, and he spent many happy hours exploring the great outdoors and caring for the creatures that shared this world with him.
Edwin is survived by his loving daughter, China Jade Garcia, his devoted son, Lyon Rivera, his sisters Marlene Miera and Susan Molander, and his brothers Andrew Rivera and Mathew Rivera. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his kind heart, his joyful spirit, and the love he bestowed upon all who knew him.
Though Edwin has left this world, his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends, and in the art that continues to inspire and bring joy. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate his life.
Another service for friends will be held October 12th Campsite 1 in Hyde Park at 11am to 3pm, to celebrate his life.
Rest in peace, Edwin George Rivera. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
