John Jack Goldman

John Jack Goldman was born on December 15, 1929 in the Bronx, New York to his beloved mother Ada and his father Israel.

Jack was a devoted older brother to Mel and Ruth and led their adventures growing up in New York City. When Jack found the astonishing sum of $40 one sunny day, he took Mel and Ruth on a long journey across the city to Coney Island, where they rode all the rides, feasted along the boardwalk and returned home weary from delight.

Jack was a United States Army Veteran and a remarkable, natural athlete who excelled in baseball and was recruited for the farm team of New York Giants renowned baseball team. Many still recall Jack’s hitting the ball across fields, schoolyards, parking lots, and marveling at the distance he could drive. Speaking of driving, Jack crisscrossed this country dozens of times as he ran his own moving business for over 50 years, moving thousands of people around the country.

In the 1950’s and 60’s Jack was married and had three children, Joseph, Robert and Julie. After his divorce, Jack relocated to Santa Fe from New York. Jack fell in love with New Mexico and its rich culture and beauty. In 1985 he met Michele Satterthwait. They were married in 1986 and had their daughter Sonrisa in 1987.

Jack was philosophical and spiritual, practicing at the Santa Fe Quaker Meeting and Congregation Beit Tikva. Jack had a unique ability to meet anyone on their own terms with a congenial zeal. At any gathering, his was a rich presence and an irresistible affirmation of life. Jack had a wide community of dear friends on the East Coast and in New Mexico.

Jack is survived by his wife Michele and his four children, five grand-children and two great-grandchildren, his brother and sister, and nieces, nephews and their children.

He will be laid to rest on Wednesday October 22nd, 2025 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 10:30am for those wishing to attend. A memorial/celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
