With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Angelo LeRouge, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this life on June 13, 2025.
John was preceded in death by those who shaped and loved him deeply: his mother, Gloria Howland; his grandmother, Sarah Howland; his uncles, Henry and Leroy Howland; his brother, Derek Herrera; and Arthur LeRouge.
He is survived by his sons, Angelo and Jeremiah LeRouge. He is also survived by his father, Pancho Naranjo; and loving family members Mary LeRouge, Roberta Roybal, Angelique LeRouge, Ben LeRouge, Xavier LeRouge, Matthew Howland, Joseph Howland, Marquita Howland, and his aunt, Lucy Herrera.
John held a special bond with his beloved aunt, Louisa Alvarez, whose home was a place of comfort, laughter, and long conversations. The time he spent with her and her family brought him great peace and connection, and their love was a source of strength and joy in his life.
John was a widely known and exceptionally gifted artist. His uncles, Joe Ortega and Pete Ortega, played a powerful role in nurturing his talent—offering both inspiration and guidance that shaped his creative path. John's art reflected his soul, his culture, and a vision that spoke to many.
A memorial service to honor John’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at The Vineyard Church, 1352 San Juan Dr, Santa Fe, NM 87505. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
Though he is no longer with us, John’s legacy lives on in every piece of art he created and in the countless lives he touched with his love, humor, and generous heart.
