Lorenzo Jerome
Martinez
September 30, 1969 – March 13, 2026
LORENZO JEROME MARTINEZ (Lench)
Lorenzo Martinez was called home to be with our Lord on March 13, 2026. He was born September 30, 1969, to Guadalupe and Inez Martinez of Rio en Medio. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Chris, and sister-in-law, Jennie; his cherished nephews and nieces, Amanda (Zach), Christian, Ishmael, Rudie, Jeremy, and Joshua; great-nieces and great-nephews, Ophelia, Gloria, Daniel, Gabriel, and Lucas; and his godson, Isaiah Martinez. He will also be greatly remembered by a wide circle of friends and extended family.
Lorenzo, a devout Catholic and a beacon of resilience, passed away at the age of 56 after a lifelong, courageous battle with significant health challenges.
Blessed with the "gift of gab," Lorenzo never met a stranger. He made friends everywhere he went, using his warmth and easy conversation to connect with people from all walks of life. He had a big heart and genuinely loved and cared for all people that entered his life.
While he lived a humble life, he possessed a spirit of immense generosity, frequently giving away his most prized possessions the moment he realized they could bring happiness to someone else.
To cope with the heavy realities of his health, Lorenzo found joy and escape as an avid collector of music, movies, and memorabilia. He had a special affinity for superheroes, who served as a source of inspiration for his own journey.
Much like the "Man of Steel," he faced immense pressure and physical toll with a quiet, unbreakable strength. To many, he was our own "Superman"—proving that true power isn't about being invulnerable, but about standing tall and staying kind when you are at your most vulnerable. His life served as a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit even while his “Kryptonite” was living within him.
In his daily conversations and social media messages, the Lord and the power of prayer were always at the forefront. Even as he faced his own mounting health battles, he spent his energy concerned for others and keeping them in his prayers, often serving as a spiritual anchor for those who needed it most. It is certain that through his daily witness and unwavering strength, he brought many closer to God.
Lorenzo was a reminder to us all: when we feel overwhelmed by our own burdens, we should think of him. His life and daily struggles were more difficult than what most of use have to endure and he fought hard just to have the blessing of another day and yet remained a positive, uplifting force. That was likely his purpose on this earth and in our lives—to be the light and the reminder that we can choose joy, faith, love and friendship regardless of our hardships.
As the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith.
While Lorenzo will be greatly missed, we can find peace knowing that he is resting with the Lord. As promised in Revelation 21:4, The old order of things has passed away; and for Lorenzo, there is no more pain, no more sickness, and no more tears.
The family of Lorenzo wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the dedicated medical professionals that assisted him during his long and difficult medical journey. We are especially thankful to all of the teams at the various hospitals, clinics, and rest homes: your expertise, kindness, and unwavering support brought comfort in Lorenzo’s most difficult moments. We also wish to thank Santa Fe County for providing meal services and transportation to his many dialysis appointments. Thank you Scott’s House for providing Lorenzo a warm, calm and safe environment for his final days and thank you for the dignity, respect, and love you showed Lorenzo and our family. Thank you Santa Fe Funerals and Cremations for all of your compassion, support and assistance with preparing Lorenzo for his final resting place.
