family by his side. He was born on April 1, 1937 in Wagon Mound, NM and was a long time resident of
Santa Fe NM. He now joins his wife Helen L Martinez, daughter Marisol Martinez, and grandson Pablo
Ortega.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ramona and Louis G Martinez brothers Joe, Sixto, Diego, Art, and
Jesse Martinez. Louis is survived by his children daughter Kelly Montoya and son Karl Montoya, daughter
in-law Angela Lucero, grandchildren Angelo (Erica) Ortega, Shane Montoya, Molly Lucero, Elena Ortega,
great-grandchildren Angelo, Olivia, David and Kamilah Ortega. Sisters Genera Cunningham, Mary (Dave)
Dillon, Fermie (Rudy) Lujan, Mary Jane (Oliver) C’deBaca, Brother; Irenio (Orlinda) Martinez, sister in-law
Christine Martinez, including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
Louis retired from the Federal Government in the late 80’s, he had a degree in theology. He was a
member of Holy Family, including giving money to other organizations. Louis loved teaching his family
how to pray and spending time with his family. Helen was the love of his life. Louis and Helen traveled
all over the world visiting far places including the holy lands & churches. They liked traveling in their RV.
Louis loved to make people laugh and tell stories about growing up in a big family with his brothers and
sisters; at times, he could also be very serious and stern. He was a loving husband, father, brother,
grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A rosary will recited on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 9:30 am following a funeral mass at 10:00 am at
Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church located at 11 College Avenue Santa Fe NM 87508. Interment on
Thursday, May 2, 2024 1:30pm at the Rosario Cemetery
