Maria Marcelena Ortiz

Maria Marcelena (Lena) Ortiz 88, of Pojoaque, New Mexico, died at home on June 10, 2024 surrounded
by her family.Lena was born in Las Vegas, NM on January 17, 1936 to Juan Jose and Endelecia Sanchez. Lena was preceded in death by her loving husband Abedon Ortiz Jr, and her parents. Siblings Eloy, Agapito,Alfredo Sanchez, Eleanor Aragon, and special nephew Donald Ortiz.

Lena married the love of her life Abedon Ortiz Jr on May 6, 1957. Together they have six children:
Josephine (Victor) Abeyta, Gabriel (Angelika) Ortiz, Ralph Ortiz (Janice) , Jeanette (Carlos) Griego, Viola
(Robert) Mondragon, and RoseAnn Quintana. Grandchildren: Ernestine (Keith) Sobieck, Victor Abetya Jr,
Christopher (Tess) Ortiz, Nicholas Mondragon, Joseph (Nicole) Abetya, Tanya Ortiz, Kevin (Jacqueline)
Griego, Sabrina Abeyta, Samantha (Estevan) Sanchez, Sarah Ortiz, Kimberly Mondragon, Maria
Quintana, Alexander (Erin) Ortiz, Mario (Nubia) Quintana, and Steffen Ortiz. Also, seventeen great-
grandchildren and twelve Godchildren.

She is survived by siblings Rose Lovato, Arcenio, Lorenzo, Eddy and Joe Sanchez. Lena attended and
graduated from Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM. She worked for Pojoaque Valley School as a
cook for many years where she retired. Lena was a very loving person who welcomed everyone into her
home. She loved to cook for family and friends and always ensured that no one walked away hungry.
She will truly be missed, loved and remembered in all hearts that knew her.

Alexander Ortiz, Mario Quintana, and Steffen Ortiz.

Visitation: Tuesday June 18, 2024, 5:00pm at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in Nambe, NM
Rosary: Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 6:00pm at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in Nambe, NM
Funeral Mass: Wednesday June 19, 2024, 10:00am at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe in Pojoaque, NM.
Burial to follow at Pojoaque Cemetery.
