Verna Mary Caldwell, born on November 19, 1945, in Rawlings, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025.
She is survived by her brother, Virgil Lopez Jr., and his wife Wilma of Rawlings, Wyoming; her nephews; and close friends Christine Trujillo and Dennis Platania, along with many others she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Lopez Sr. and Precides Archuleta Lopez, and her brother, Tony Lopez.
Verna lived in Santa Fe for many years, where she was drawn to the city’s spiritual and artistic nature. She worked as a Registered Nurse, specializing in the field of traumatic brain injury, dedicating her life to caring for others. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, cherished her beloved cats Jeb and Smokey, and could often be found sharing stories and laughter over lunch with a Manhattan in hand.
She held a deep love for dragonflies, seeing in them the beauty of transformation and the wisdom of spiritual messengers. Verna was a kind and deeply spiritual soul who touched the lives of everyone around her.
We have lost a true friend whose warmth, compassion, and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
