It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Yvonne Martinez-Montano, age 66, of Santa Fe, NM. She passed away peacefully to be with our lord on August 13, 2025, with family by her side. She was born on January 22,1959, to Napoleon and Frances G. Martinez in Santa Fe, NM. She was so small when she was born the doctor gave her the nickname, “Peanut.” This nickname stuck and she was called Peanut to this day.

After graduating from Santa Fe High, Yvonne went to Highlands University and received a bachelor’s degree in 1984. She retired from the state of NM Human Services Department after 25 years of service in 2010. In 1994, Yvonne met the love of her life Rudy, and after their first date they were wed on 12/20/1994. She enjoyed the holidays and spending time with family and friends. She was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 1 and Santa Fe was her forever home.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Rudy Montano, her two brothers Joseph George Martinez, Angelo Martinez and many other family members. She is survived by her daughter, Aurelia Sedillo, Son-in law, Tim Sedillo, and her two grandsons, Enrique Gomez and Ramon Sedillo. These two boys she cherished with all her heart.

Services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, and interment at Rosario Cemetery 1:00pm. A celebration of life to follow at the American Legion 1601 Berry Ave. Santa Fe, NM.

The family would like to express their gratitude to James Chavez for helping us take care of her during her final days. We would also like to thank all the family & friends who took the time to visit Yvonne in her final days.
